Brazilian construction company BN Engenharia announced it will be in charge of the infrastructure works on China’s State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) and Canadian Solar Inc’s (NASDAQ:CSIQ) 738-MW solar portfolio in Brazil.
The firm, in partnership with local developer Motrice Solucoes em Energia, won the tender to build the 446-MW Marangatu and the 292-MWp Panati-Sitia solar farms in the northeastern states of Piaui and Ceara, respectively.
SPIC Brasil and Canadian Solar will invest more than BRL 2 billion (USD 399.81m/EUR 366.06m) to develop the duo. The local unit of the Chinese giant entered the partnership in June 2022 when it acquired a 70% stake in the two solar projects.
Once up and running, the solar parks should be able of producing enough clean electricity to meet the annual demand of over 900,000 households, BN Engenharia noted.
